Tele-bone Bench

By

The Tele-Bone Bench is our variation of the mid-century modern concept of a “telephone bench”.  Drawing from Japanese design principles, the telephone bench is multi-functional and relies on “Kanso”, the art of simplicity and elimination of clutter, by providing storage and organization for digital devices such as the iphone, ipad, and task lighting.  Incorporating “Shizen” or natural elements, there is a removable plant tray, warm wood finishes, popular in mid-century design, and the application of traditional wood joinery.  The overall design is based on a balanced, asymmetric aesthetic or “Fukinsei”, while incorporating a beloved furniture style that has come back into popularity in recent years.

King of the Jungle

By

Our furry companions, even in the smallest size, are descendants from wild ancestors where the jungle was their backyard.  The “King of the Jungle’ offers exercise, play, rest, and nourishment allowing canines to rule their domain.  Although this mountainous structure is equipped with natural-looking rocks and astro-turf surfaces for climbing traction, the cave offers a protected resting space where air circulates through a curtain of rope vines that also double as tug-of-war play.

The Napper

By

Drawing inspiration from an iconic local building, the Nasher Sculpture Center, designed by Renzo Piano, “The Napper” uses similar materials and form.  Designed to be an interior doghouse, the Napper is made of materials that can fit in any home.  Similar to the Nasher Sculpture Center, the Napper’s scale and form is simple and elegant.  The materials and form of the Napper lead to easier constructability, as they are commonly used materials with low lead times and common construction methods.

Green Dreams

By

Following the sleeping and lounging patterns of our locally sourced pup, Green Dreams accentuates a dog’s different methods of rest, relaxation and observation.  The structural sines made of cedar descend and splay out towards the rear, widening the covered space and allowing the dog to easily curl up for a nap.  The slope of the asymmetrical roof continues to provide aid not only to the dog itself, but also for making sure none of the already scarce rainwater goes to waste, allowing it to flow directly into its planters.  The opportunity for planting greenery has been provided for its aesthetic value along with a natural filtering/cooling of the doghouse, creating a comfortable and tranquil space for all dogs seeks an escape from the Texas heat.

Fido Waggings of the Shire

By

Fido Waggings of the Shire brings a piece of the fantasy world into your home. Your little pup can hang out inside of the house, or even perch itself over it.  The small ‘flower beds’ in front can be used to place its favorite toys.  Every dog needs its own house from which to set out on their epic adventures, even the tiny ones!  Because even the smallest creature can change the course of the future.

Pupperoni Macaroni

By

“Pupperoni Macaroni” explores the silhouette of a conventional dog house extruded along a bent “macaroni” curve. This simple gesture allows for two “front doors” for two different pups or for the always classic game of “running in circles”. Put two or more houses end-to-end and create unlimited squiggles and loops. Drawing inspiration from the facade of James Stirling’s No 1 Poultry in London, the stripes visually tie the two doors together and give the house a timeless and contemporary look suited for the modern doggo.

The Box

By

The Box is not just a box!  The design starts with a box and adds and subtracts elements to create a doghouse for a playful pup.  The entry awning provides shade for the pup who likes to lay outside and catch some sun, while the back window provides views for the dog who prefers to stay inside and watch from his comfortable bed.  Rustic and durable building elements, such as cypress wood and metal accents, enclose the space; graphics enhance the playfulness while the folding bowl holders for food and water add a layer of practicality.

Captain Bark Beard

By

This pirate ship is sure to make any teacup pup feel like the big dog of the seas.  With multiple levels and a vast interior, there is plenty to explore. Pup overboard! but don’t worry, the splash pad is shallow and perfect to cool off during those hot summer days.  The gang plank and sail mast both retract for easier transportation.

Woof Garden

By

The open concept was designed to mimic the natural canopy of a grove.  The lower portion provides a small nook tucked away for the sleep area mimicking a burrow hole while providing views to the outside. The thin columns provide support for the turf roof while giving it a sense of weightlessness.
