DOGOMETRY

By

This is a doghouse every big dog will love!  This sculptural piece is both functional and uniquely dynamic from every angle.  The reclaimed beetle kill pine has inherent character that will enhance with age.  Designed to maximize air circulation, the house is both elevated and incorporates multiple slatted openings.  Unfolding from the exterior is the planter and storage bench that is a convenient spot to store dog accessories.  In this planter, dog-friendly herbs are a beneficial addition.

PUP TENT

By

The design is a combination of a gable roof – a basic symbol for a house and a tent – and image of playfulness and adventure.  A basic triangle frame is set on a square platform to create the most fundamental form of a house with a roof and floor.  The ridge of the roof is twisted toward the corners to form a much more dynamic shape and interesting look for the house.  The hybrid design of a straight roof edge and warped tent surface creates a safe environment for a dog to enjoy his/her in-house activities while feeling like they are outdoor camping.

HORTON HEARS A WOOF

By

In the Jungle of Nool, Horton the elephant hears a familiar woof. The sound comes from his friend Carmy, a teacup pup living in a very small city called Whoville. This city is indeed so small that it is located within a floating spec of dust on a clover flower guarded by Horton. With her friendly barking, Carmy is thanking Horton for protecting all the Whoville houses, ceilings, floors, churches, groceries stores and of course, her own dog house. This doghouse design is a tribute to one of Dr. Suess’s most successful storied Horton Hears A Who! which promotes a lesson in equality and justice.  After all, a dog is a dog, no matter how small.

PURRRCH

By

The Purrrch is the perfect hang out place for all the cool cats!  The honeycomb configuration inspired from a traditional beehive provides a helpful angle for the agile abilities of a cat to climb to and from platformed surfaces with ease.  The platformed shapes oscillate between solid and void geometries to allow a greater obstacle for these curious creatures.  This hive is complete with six small rooms for hiding, napping, or hanging with your closest feline friends.

TAIL-END TABLE

By

The Tail-End Table provides a new way for people to interact with their dog by being a point of intersection between the life of the dog and their person.  The curvy, vibrant slats accommodate for human functions, while the rigid, darker slats provide the dog’s needs.  When these are stitched together, a rich space is created the dog and a beautiful table is created for the human, interlocking a dog’s warmth and a human’s care and creating a spatial and material composition that manifests the bonds dogs have with their humans.

BURROW

By

Originating from an idea of folding earth, the Burrow uses the inherent capabilities of nature to provide a shelter and geothermal comfort for your dog. An opportunity to fully engage with nature is achieved by creating a series of overlapping folds using a combination of natural and architectural elements. To mitigate the hot Texas weather the Burrow blocks the hot day sun and harnesses the wind through proper orientation, with the additional ability to keep the floor surface cooled by solar technology. The low maintenance sedum green roof not only provides a platform for your dog to relax, but also delivers water retention capabilities. The Burrow is not just a dog house, it is nature made for your dog to feel at home.
