INBETWEEN

Merging the traditional doghouse with sculpture, INBETWEEN began as a cubic mass that was then carved, sliced, and whittled down using the proportions and positions of dogs as a datum for the sculptural void, the in between space. Through this method of sculpting space, INBETWEEN becomes perceived as either a cubic mass or dissolving, partly or completely, into the landscape. Locally sourced cedar is used for structure and skin, preserved through a charcoal and clear seal process forming a protective layer, and joined into the cubic mass. Strategic carving and slicing allow INBETWEEN to breathe while simultaneously providing shade, creating a comfortable and tranquil space for all dogs seeking an escape from the Texas heat.
