2016 Entry
Barkelona Pavilion
Teacup Pup
The “Teacup Pup” award is presented to the team that presents the best design for small dogs.
Designed by Ludwig Mies van der Ruff, the building is intended to become “an ideal zone of tranquility” for the weary visitor, who should be invited into the pavilion on the way to the next attraction. Mr. Ruff placed the famous sculpture “Ode to Cat” in the small water basin – he chose the place where these optical/sculpture effects would have the strongest impact. Sculptures were no longer to be applied retrospectively to the building, but rather to be a part of the spatial design, to help define and interpret it.
